Historic non-binary rights case launched by Frances Mahon Law

October 26, 2017 – Frances Mahon Law, on behalf of Dr. Joshua M. Ferguson, filed a landmark human rights complaint today at the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal, seeking an “X” gender designation for non-binary, intersex and trans* individuals on B.C. identification.

Frances Mahon was quoted by CTV News on the importance of ensuring legal recognition for all persons in B.C.:

“Providing identification with a correct gender marker is a basic service that should be available to everyone in British Columbia,” Ferguson’s lawyer, Frances Mahon, said in the statement. “Without it, trans, non-binary and intersex individuals are exposed to further discrimination every time they show their ID.”

Frances Mahon is proud to support Dr. Ferguson in their fight for non-binary legal recognition. She is dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ equality, both in and out of the courtroom. Read more about her human rights and constitutional litigation services to find out how she can help.
